Watch my Zinnia Planting Tutorial

This video is a five-step tutorial on how to plant Zinnia seeds. This is also my first attempt at video recording and editing. I used different techniques like time lapsing and boomerang. I recorded some videos in live time while narrated them as well. The rest of the narration in my video was done via voiceover with pre-recorded dialogue. I tried to incorporate some free songs and sounds provided by iMovie. I had high hopes adobe premiere would work on my laptop but after a while of struggling with that, I settled for iMovie to combine and edit my compilation of tutorial clips. I also struggled with enabling my microphone to do voiceover directly on my iMovie program. I have pasted my media plan below.

What worked:

iMovie

Boomerang

Time-lapse

Watching YouTube videos guiding me through the how-tos of uploading, editing, voice-over

What didn’t work:

Adobe Premiere

Voice-over on iMovie

Media Plan – This is what I used before I made my video clips and it helped me map out what I needed to film and what clips I wanted where

Props: egg carton, spoon, watering can, seeds, soil, popsicle sticks, sharpie

Layout:

Intro picture then voice-recorded clip

Time lapse clip showing all props, add 4-sectioned photo

Step 1: Video filling egg carton, switch to time-lapse aerial shot about half way through, add voice-over recording

Step 2: Video dropping seeds, add still shot, add voice-over recording

Step 3: Video of cover seeds with dirt, add still-shot, add voice-over recording

Step 4: Video of watering, add sound effect of water pouring, add voice-over recording

Step 5: Boomerang of popsicle sticks, video of label writing, add voice-over recording

Wrap-up with picture of what seeds will look like in a matter of weeks. (Used my own shot because I started some seeds weeks before I did a tutorial video)
