We Already Live by Algorithms

Algorithms are up and coming, but already present in our society. Instagram uses an algorithm to limit who and what you see on your feed in an attempt to filter out what you would normally skip over.

This idea of integrating algorithms even further into life can be seen with randomist, Max Hawkins. He had this abstract idea to allow a computer to coordinate each aspect of his life. The computer even suggested where he went to eat and spend leisure time.

He created an app where the computer based algorithms predicted where he would go based on places he has visited before in his area. He expanded this idea when he decided to solely let the computer decide where he lived, what he listened to, and pick events he attended.

Grate Skis if you like Cabot Cheese

Photoshop allows a creator to edit any type of photo imaginable. Meier skis are personalized and give you the option to upload any image you want. Below there is a picture of custom skis with cabot cheese graphics. This is GRATE if you really like cheese – Christiane

If you really want these skis you go to photoshop. Grab an image of the cabot cheese logo. Use the polygonal lasso tool to cut out the outline you want. Then, you would have to save the file before you export. Depending on what the company’s website requires you would save the image from the transparent background to a PNG file or PSD file.

For WordPress you would go to your menu to find the section you want to add the media, then you hit the icon to upload your media, choose your file and then publish.

Google, Show Me My Wedding Pictures

Advertisement agencies paid millions of dollars for seconds of air time. I was honestly shocked at how confusing and boring the commercials were that played during the 2020 game. As someone who hates football, the commercials are just as important as the halftime show. There were may commercials I was not even able to take away the message they were trying to send to the viewers. There were only a few commercials I can still remember days later which to me, means they were effective.

I loved the Google commercial because it was emotional. There was an old man who lost his wife, Loretta, and had all these memories saved to Google like his wedding pictures and his wife’s favorite flower. It was so cute and stood out from other commercials for its old time values and emotional hook.

Is the Problem with Deep Fake Repairable?

Technology has come so far in recent years, I knew the capabilities of video editing software was advanced. However, seeing examples of that technology put into use is especially eye-opening. The above video shows just how easy, and dare I say convincing the videos are that can be created. There is a lot of controversy surrounding videos that are artificially altered like this one. A lot of questions can arise especially if the video is created to harm the image of a person without them actually completing an action.

Dadaism

This video may seem very confusing without any context. I was very confused at first, myself. I still am confused. That is the whole idea of this video. The creator made a very chaotic film with a lot of very foreign sounds, words, and varying speeds. This was to show the differences in language and communication. This was meant to make you think about what you just listened to for more than a second. Given the time the film was created was around World War I, it was probably meant to spark debate about the true meaning.
